Sacrament of Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism is the first of three Sacraments of Initiation, which is completed by the Sacrament of Confirmation and the Holy Eucharist.
Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission.
Baptism of Adults and children aged 7 and older are admitted to Baptism after a program of preparation. Please contact the Parish office directly for more information.
Baptism of Infants and younger children:
Catholic parents who wish to have an infant or younger child baptised, and those who are to undertake the function of sponsor, are to be instructed properly on the meaning of this sacrament and the obligations attached to it.
By water and the Holy Spirit your child will receive the gift of new life from God, who is love. On your part, you must make it your constant care to bring your child up in the practice of the catholic faith. Together with the sponsors (godparents) you undertake to see that the divine life which God gives in Baptism is kept safe from the poison of sin, to grow always stronger in your child’s heart.
